Now Obama Tells Us?
What an honest campaign would have sounded like.
By Victor Davis Hanson

Imagine that last fall, before being elected, Barack Obama had outlined the positions he has embraced since being inaugurated. An honest campaign speech could have gone something like this:
“As we approach Election Day, the American people should not waste the crisis we find ourselves in.
“Consequently, if elected, I promise to get us over the Bush financial meltdown with a stimulus program that will borrow $787 billion — which, of course, will add to the already sizable budget deficit (nearly $500 billion) projected in the Bush administration’s last budget.
“By March of next year, my new $3.6 trillion budget will include a spending bill with over 8,500 budget earmarks to target in-need constituents.

“In addition to the stimulus/borrowing plan, I intend to devote $634 billion to fund a new supplementary national health-care system. But that is not all. Unfortunately, the initial Bush bank bailout of some $700 billion also may well have to be augmented by an additional $750 billion.
“Although my new spending proposals may raise the federal deficit in my first year to $1.75 trillion, I promise the American people that by the end of my first term, I will halve the federal deficit — albeit adding another $3 to $5 trillion to the national debt.
“Those savings can be accomplished by upping the federal income tax to about 40 percent on those rich 5 percent of Americans who currently pay only 60 percent of our aggregate income taxes — as well as lifting Social Security caps on their payroll taxes and cutting out many of their tax deductions.
“With state income taxes, federal income tax, and Social Security and payroll taxes, along with new cutbacks in deductions, some of these rich will pay over 60 percent of their incomes in taxes. That is not an unreasonable rate in comparison with past levels — or the fact that well over 40 percent of Americans do not make enough to pay any federal income taxes.
“I expect that Wall Street may react negatively to these proposals. We may see the Dow fall an additional 2,000 to 3,000 points after I’m elected. It may descend to under 7,000 during my first weeks of office. And this may be the moment when the economy continues to cool and unemployment rises.
“But to deal with this reaction of entrenched interests, I promise a fresh team of hard-nosed American professionals — understanding that it is impossible to ensure that none have past insider connections and occasional tax problems.
“From the former Clinton administration, I will select Rahm Emanuel to run my staff. To oversee revenue, Timothy Geithner will assemble a large team at Treasury. Senator Clinton herself will run State, and I will anchor my cabinet with pros like Tom Daschle, Eric Holder, Bill Richardson, and Hilda Solis.
“On matters of protecting civil liberties, I assure the American people that I have examined the Patriot Act, the FISA accords, and renditions — and I have discovered that they, in fact, do not shred our Constitution. I will, however, shut down Guantanamo Bay — but must keep it open another year and appoint a task force to study the issue.
“Our new direction in energy policy will center on cap-and-trade initiatives that promote wind and solar power. While we won’t rule out oil, gas, coal, and nuclear development, problems with greenhouse-gas emissions and nuclear waste mean that these ossified 20th-century industries — including new offshore-drilling development — must be discouraged and further taxed or regulated to subsidize our green future.
“Abroad, I promise to give America a new image. My first television interview will be with al Arabiya. Due to both new initiatives and my unique background, I can reassure them that no longer will the United States alienate the Muslim world. Our aim is to return to stable and friendly relations with the Middle East characteristic of 20-30 years ago.
“Indeed, on matters in the Middle East, I will bring back my suspended adviser Samantha Power. I look forward to her input, along with that of Charles Freeman, former ambassador to Saudi Arabia and critic of Israel, as head of the National Intelligence Council, to craft new directions in the region.
“We expect to open new dialogues with Basher al-Assad of Syria and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran without preconditions. And to further the cause of peace in the Middle East, the United States will pledge almost $1 billion to help rebuild the Gaza strip that is governed by Hamas.”
Now all that would have been hope and change that we could have voted on.

From Capitalism Magazine: Obama’s Plans Will ‘Work’ — To Breed Servile Dependence by Richard Salsman.

Oddly, these [conservative] “critics” [of Obama's economic policies] bestow undeserved compliments on their political opponents – and thus provide them with crucial political cover. By implicitly praising their enemy’s underlying motives, these critics effectively shield them from justified criticism. The critics who argue this way – including Rush Limbaugh – unwittingly carry water for President Obama. By insisting the schemes “won’t work,” the “critics” mean they won’t work to grow the economy – won’t revive the stock market – won’t fix the banks – won’t attract capitalists on strike – won’t bolster job creation – and won’t lift the poor out of poverty. Well, all that’s true, but it’s false to assume the Obama administration actually wants to achieve these things.

In fact, it wants no such thing.

It has other ideas — a wholly opposite aim.

Besides a desire for re-election, shared by all politicians, at root the Obama Administration wants individuals and firms to become more dependent on government. That requires not merely a more intensive redistribution of wealth to the needy (whether needy people or needy firms), but also programs and plans that might proliferate the ranks of the needy, even if that requires turning otherwise healthy people and firms into unhealthy, needy ones.

Mr. Salsman is exactly right. Mr. Obama does want to convert te entire country, people and businesses into welfare dependent Zombies. An outrageous sized government. Take a look at the banks, financial institutions and the auto companies. They are now under government scrutiny with possible punishment if they don’t toe the line.

Private citizens will not be far behind. Tucked way down deep in that porkulus bill was an amendment to give the IRS a lot more power. The right to privacy is a thing of the past.

The country is upside down, all brought to you by a Chicago Community Organizer. All the libs and the Demoncrats in Washington are singing Koom-Ba-Ya with the Dead Cat Bounce the stock market is going through. It goes up a couple hundred points over a five day period and they think the recession is over. If you don’t mind, I am going to continue to protect my money until I see what happens when the bill comes due on all this spending. For cripes sake he is pushing through a three and one half trillion dollar budget. It looks like it is on the fast track and the Republicans wont even be able to block it. I’m watching that idiot Robert Gibbs in the endless press conferences, they are using smoke and mirrors. Getting people to concentrate on getting back the money AIG paid out in bonuses which were contracted well before the bail out money was doled out. It was only 163 million dollars, we are supposed to ignore the 170 billion dollars they received in the bailout, how much of that money did they use to shore up the business? The answer is easy, I don’t need a calculator, NONE. They shuffled it off to other banks. I should put a bank sign in front of my house, I’ll call it (Poor Man’s Bank)

This all makes me sick

Got this from ABC News

I said a few days ago that this guy was an ASS HAT, he is now proving that.

PHOTO Wednesday Attorney General Eric Holder said that the Obama administration will seek to reinstitute the assault weapons ban which expired in 2004 during the Bush administration.

Wednesday Attorney General Eric Holder said that the Obama administration will seek to reinstitute the assault weapons ban which expired in 2004 during the Bush administration.

(AP Photos/ABC News Graphic )

It seems that each and every one of his appointed administration goons have an agenda all their own and I think they mirror what The Messiah wants done. Right at this moment they are voting on the so called Fairness Doctrine. And then Holder drops this bomb.

“As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons,” Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

“I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum.” Holder said at a news conference on the arrest of more than 700 people in a drug enforcement crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S.

Sure they arrested a bunch of drug pushers. Now what are you going to do with them? Deport them? they will be back in business by sundown.

Mexican government officials have complained that the availability of sophisticated guns from the United States have emboldened drug traffickers to fight over access routes into the U.S.

A State Department travel warning issued Feb. 20, 2009, reflected government concerns about the violence.

“Some recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades,” the warning said. “Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico, but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez.”

Gee, does that include the gangs, escorted across the border by Mexican Army and Mexican Police forces. The Border Patrol has reported this more than once. Perhaps if the Mexican Government would clean up the rampant corruption in the government, I would give a little more of a shit what they want. I am very tired of Mexico demanding that we do something. We had way too much capitulation by our government in the last 16 years, but especially in the last 8 years.

I have an idea, let’s scrap that silly fence idea, it would never work anyway. They have been taking lessons from the “Palistinians” with the tunnel digging. Instead, let’s build a wall the full length of the border. A hundred feet deep and a hundred feet tall and twelve feet thick. Then man our side of the border with armed Predator, un maned vehicles. Dare them to come across. What the hell, Obama is going to spend multiple Trillions of tax payer dollars. He will most likely jump all over this. Oh wait, that would cut off the supply of new Demoncrats, so never mind.

At the news conference today, Holder described his discussions with his Mexican counterpart about the recent spike in violence.

“I met yesterday with Attorney General Medina Mora of Mexico, and we discussed the unprecedented levels of violence his country is facing because of their enforcement efforts,” he said.

Holder declined to offer any time frame for the reimplementation of the assault weapons ban, however.

“It’s something, as I said, that the president talked about during the campaign,” he said. “There are obviously a number of things that are — that have been taking up a substantial amount of his time, and so, I’m not sure exactly what the sequencing will be.”

It will be very interesting to see what the Obama, Holder, Reid and Pelosi gang will decide what an “Assault Weapon” is. I have a feeling that my semi-automatic pellet gun may be illegal. Attempting to deal with the horrendous gun laws here in California is bad enough. In order to defend yourself, your family and your home when an armed intruder breaks in, in the middle of the night. You have to unlock your state approved gun safe, then unlock the ammunition safe, load your weapon, but by that time you and your family are dead.

I keep a Louisville Slugger handy at all times, they are not outlawed yet. I have proven many, many times during High school, College and The Army that I can hit a home run. ‘nough said!!!

The AP going after Obama?

10:36 am in Demoncrats, Media, National, Obama, Opinion, Politics, Stimulus by skyzot63

It’s hard to imagine, but this AP article via Yahoo News FACT CHECK: Examining Obama’s job, pork claims , By CALVIN WOODWARD, Associated Press Writer Calvin Woodward, Associated Press Writer – Tue Feb 10, is not very kind to Pres. Erkle.

WASHINGTON – At least Route 31 is a road to somewhere. President Barack Obama had it both ways when he promoted his stimulus plan in Indiana and later at a prime-time news conference. He bragged in Indiana about getting Congress to produce a package with no pork, yet boasted it will do good things for a Hoosier highway and a downtown overpass, just the kind of local projects lawmakers lard into big spending bills.

No Pork, that is joke #1. The Stimulus Bill is one big Pork Package. Bridge To Nowhere qnyone?

Obama’s sales pitch on the enormous package he wants Congress to make law has sizzle as well as steak. He’s projecting job creation numbers that may be impossible to verify and glossing over some ethical problems that bedeviled his team.

They expect us to believe that they put this thing together since November 4th, that is joke n#2. This piece of crap has every pork meal that the liberal demoncrats have been putting together for years. The Messiah has not added anything to this bill, he only knows what parts of it contain.
This thing was put together by Pelosi and Reid and their mignions. They are using The Chosen One to pass all of the crap they have wanted to impose on us for years, if not decades. All he cares about is that it is spending, a lot of spending. The only way he can get what he wants is to have the printing presses on steroids printing new money. He has to drive the worth of the dollar as far down as possible. He is sliding Socialism into America under a stelth blanket.

OBAMA: “Not a single pet project,” he told the news conference. “Not a single earmark.”

THE FACTS: There are no “earmarks,” as they are usually defined, inserted by lawmakers in the bill. Still, some of the projects bear the prime characteristics of pork — tailored to benefit specific interests or to have thinly disguised links to local projects.

Erkle either flat out lied, or he is truly one of the dombest people on the planet.

OBAMA: “My bottom line is, are we creating 4 million jobs?” he told the news conference.

He said in Indiana, “The plan that we’ve put forward will save or create 3 million to 4 million jobs over the next two years.”

THE FACTS: Job creation projections are uncertain even in stable times, and some of the economists relied on by Obama in making his forecast acknowledge a great deal of uncertainty in their numbers.

The president’s own economists, in a report prepared last month, stated, “It should be understood that that all of the estimates presented in this memo are subject to significant margins of error.”

Beyond that, it’s unlikely the nation will ever know how many jobs are saved as a result of the stimulus. While it’s clear when jobs are abolished, there’s no economic gauge that tracks job preservation.

There is no stipulation in this bill to have any jobs they are lucky enough to create or save will go to citizens. Plus the US govenment is forcing GM to cut ten thousand non union jobs. That is a cute pay back to the union support.. If you perform and move up through the ladder of advancement, they are saying “Screw You!”

OBAMA: “We also inherited the most profound economic emergency since the Great Depression.”

That is joke #3. The reason we are in this mess is because of the Demoncrats, Frank and Dodd lying and pushing Freddie and Fannie down our throats with the help of lamestream hype. They managed to sucker Bush into signing the bank bailout, which never should have happened, shame on Bush.

THE FACTS: This could turn out to be the case. But as bad as the economic numbers are, the unemployment figures have not reached the levels of the early 1980s, let alone the 1930s — yet. A total of 598,000 payroll jobs vanished in January — the most in nearly 35 years — and the unemployment rate jumped to 7.6 from 7.2 percent the month before. The most recent high was 7.8 percent in June 1992.

And the jobless rate was 10.8 percent in November and December 1982. Unemployment in the Great Depression ranged for several years from 25 percent to close to 30 percent.

Give Erkle and the Demoncrats a little time qnd those numbers could be small potatoes.

I just heard that the Senate passed this piece of crap with the help of three Rino’s Specter, Snowe and Collins, a pox on them for bucklling under to the pressure. I’m a little surprised that Rino McCain did not vote for it.

We are now under Socialized Medicine, now this new huge burocrocy they have created will now decide who gets treatment and what kind. At my age and health issues in the past, they will deny me treatment because my treatments have gone over 2 million so far.
It is vital to Erkle and the Dems, for this recession to turn into a full blown depression. What the free market would most likely have fixed is now up to massive money printing that will cause inflation like we have never seen. I thought Carter was bad, this bunch of fools make Carter look like a conservative.
I’m going to clean my guns and stuff some money in the mattress.

More on the Stimulus Sham!!!

Got this from Nostimulus facts What’s Wrong with the Stimulus Bill?

I don’t think Mr. Obama was paying attention during history class. Oh wait, I doubt if the communist school he went to in Hawaii taught the same history that most of us over 50 studied.
If he had the best interest of this country in mind he would not be following in the footsteps of FDR.
He is attempting to take us down a path to the total destruction of our economy and possibly our nation.

The so-called “Stimulus Package” is being sold to taxpayers as an investment in useful infrastructure like roads and bridges. But the facts prove otherwise.

Only 3.6% of the scheme’s $825 billion price tag would actually go to real, practical infrastructure projects–roads and bridges.

Most of the other 96.4% would go to special interest pet projects, and to cramming years’ worth of radical policy changes into the single largest spending and debt scheme in history.

Even the Congressional Budget Office, the official scorekeeper of the economic impact of legislation, has said that it would, on balance, hurt the economy.

Why are our nation’s leaders doing this? Obama White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel was strikingly honest when he said “Never let a serious crisis go to waste…it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.” Exactly what fringe policies are big-government politicians attempting to ram through with this colossal bill?

Under the auspices of a “Comparative Effectiveness Review,” the package heavily funds the first steps towards the socialization and government-mandated rationing of health care. And this is just one of many government power grabs being shoehorned into the so-called “Stimulus Package.”

In fact, even by the most charitable estimates, the bill would force taxpayers to foot the bill for at least 600,000 new government bureaucrats. That’s six tenths of a million more people on the government payroll — adding little or no value to our economy and being paid with billions upon billions of your hard-earned tax dollars.

And just what sort of special interest giveaways and wasteful government spending are included in the so-called “Stimulus Package”? To name just a few.

- $4.19 billion in slush funds for ACORN, the left-wing advocacy group best known for allegations of voter fraud during the 2008 presidential campaign
- $600 million to buy brand new cars for government bureaucrats
- $335 million for adult sex workshops (one of the few line items which could conceivably deliver “stimulus” )
- $150 million for honeybee insurance
- $2.8 billion for the US Department of Agriculture in a misdirected program more likely be spent to build unnecessary broadband internet services in urban areas than in the rural areas that lack service.

First off, Acorn should not ever get one dime of tax payer money. In my opinion every person associated with them including those in Congress, in government employ, the officers and supervisors of Acorn should be rounded up, prosecuted and jailed for voter fraud and other crimes. Investigate the entire organization and the financials involved with them. Let’s get the crooks out of politics (and yes, I understand that Washington and most of the state capitols and government offices would be vacant wastelands)

I could live with that.

These are just a few examples of the shameless feeding frenzy taking place in halls of Congress today with this so-called “Stimulus Package.”

This trillion-dollar debt and spending scheme will provide little or no stimulus, but will put each and every American household in at least $6,700 of new debt, to be paid by our children and grandchildren.

Spending Stimulus Can’t Work

1. Every dollar the government spends comes from the private sector.

Nobel Prize winner Milton Friedman famously said: “there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.” Government spending is either financed through higher taxes, higher federal borrowing, or by printing money. Those are the only possibilities. They all create greater economic damage than any stimulus effect of new spending.

● Tax increases lower the incentive to work, save, and invest. There is a strong association between tax increases and reduced economic growth. In an economic crisis, tax hikes should be unthinkable. The Revenue Act of 1932 was one of the major reasons an economic crisis deepened into the Great Depression.

He is hell bent on following in the footsteps of the despicable failure of FDR.

● Government borrowing also takes money out of the private economy—the money that bond purchasers hand over to the government in exchange for the bonds. That money could otherwise be used for business investment that would expand the economy’s productive capacity. If the funds are borrowed from abroad, our exports are lowered because U.S. dollars are being used to buy bonds instead of goods. Borrowed funds also have to be paid back, placing a burden on future taxpayers. Excessive borrowing also may increase interest rates, deepening the credit crisis.

● Inflation may be most damaging financing mechanism of all. If government spends money that it has’t taxed or borrowed, then it is literally creating money out of thin air. More dollars being created means that the dollars in our pockets and bank accounts are worth less than they were before. Inflation is a stealth tax that erodes the value of everything and destroys real economic growth.

2. History shows spending stimulus fails.

America experimented with large-scale expansions of government spending in the 1930s with the New Deal and again in the 1960s and 70s with the Great Society. These dramatic expansions of government spending coincided with economic failure. The long-boom that started under Reagan and continued until now with only a couple of brief, mild recessions coincided with a significant decline in federal spending as a percentage of the economy.

FDR, Johnson and Carter have to stand out as the most destructive presidents in our history. I lived through the Johnson and Carter era’s, and they were not fun, unless you didn’t mind not having enough money to pay for the gas that you had to sit in line for, for hours on end.

3. Infrastructure projects should be judged on their merits, but not as stimulus.

There is a role for government in providing certain public goods that the market cannot efficiently provide. If financing is available at favorable rates it may make sense to take a long-term view and begin projects that are legitimately justified on their merits. We should be under no misconception, however, that public works spending is stimulative, because borrowed dollars are taken out of the private sector.

These should be few and very far between, I would not mind going back to the part time congress. Pay them only for the time they are there. Make them all get real jobs. Not provide them with cars, healthcare fully funded and when an administration leaves, the entrenched bureaucrats and staffers go with them.

Stimulus Package? Yeh, Riiiiiiigght!

11:00 am in Demoncrats, National, Obama, Opinion, Politics by skyzot63

This stimulus bill is a crock. It is Obama’s test shot across the bow of our democracy. He wants to see just how much of his Marxist agenda the American people are willing to swallow.
He is everywhere on TV, radio and press conferences. Telling all of us that his bill is the only thing that will save the country. Say there, Pres Erkle, what about allowing the free market solve this problem?
Cut a whole hell of a lot of taxes, throw your stimulus bill in the trash.
The bank bailout was a crock and so is this one.. Yesterday he signed the F-America-schip, or what ever it is called. Health care for children. Sounds good doesn’t it? With this bill 35 year olds who don’t have kids will be supporting that single mother of six who had eight more by invetro. And all the other leeches around the country.
I cannot even stand to see or listen to him.
I am going to sit right here and predict that he is going to be a failure as president. If he gets his way, this country will fall to the lowest of the Third World. Perhaps that is his plan so he can toss the Constitution out the window and truly take complete control.

Now the bleeding begins! The Magnanimous, Holy Chosen One, immediately signed an executive order to close Gitmo. He has over looked one minor detail. What the fuck are you going to do with the 250+, murderous, evil, savage bastards held there?
The traitorous Rep. John Murtha says he’d be willing to house Guantanamo Bay detainees in his 12th congressional district. There is only one minor hitch, there’s no freaking prison in his district.
Next and including Obama’s Executive Order on Lawful Interrogations From now on they will just be able to ask politely, “Are you a fuckin’ murderous, terrorist bastard?” There is The Jack Bauer Exception from the WSJ.

Most politicians would rather do anything than make a difficult choice, and it seems President Obama hasn’t abandoned this Senatorial habit. To wit, yesterday’s executive order on interrogation: It imposes broad limits on how aggressively U.S. intelligence officers can question terrorists, but it also keeps open the prospect of legal loopholes that would allow them to press harder in tough cases.

While that kind of double standard may resolve a domestic political problem, it’s no way to fight a war. The human-rights lobby and many Democrats are still experiencing hypochondria about the Bush Administration’s supposed torture program, and their cheering about this “clean break” means they may be appeased. But the larger risk is that Mr. Obama’s restrictions end up disabling an essential tool in the U.S. antiterror arsenal.

Effective immediately, the interrogation of anyone “in the custody or under the effective control of an officer, employee, or other agent of the United States Government” will be conducted within the limits of the Army Field Manual. That includes special-ops and the Central Intelligence Agency, which will now be required to give prisoners gentler treatment than common criminals. The Field Manual’s confines don’t even allow the average good cop/bad cop routines common in most police precincts.

I say again, let the bleeding of our National Security begin, by the time this FOOL is finished there will be no United States of America.
