A former Marine Cpl says NO to Diane Feinstein’s gun grabber bill.

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain.

I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Warner Todd Huston: What drove you to post this reply to Senator Feinstein?

Joshua Boston: I’ve been seeing this nonsense about gun control in the news since forever. Senator Feinstein regularly touts the effectiveness of the first Assault Weapons Ban while pointing out the "loopholes." So she proposes this new ban legislation. Given the tragedy that happened recently it has considerably more traction with folks, most who rely in some major way on emotions and what they’re being told by the media about these "Weapons of Mass Destruction." My Windham Weaponry SRC sits in my home loaded and ready to be used should the need ever arise. It does not make me a criminal.

I’m sick of being told by people in Washington D.C. what is okay for me to own for my own personal defense while they enjoy the safety of many armed guards with better firearms than I have access to. It’s hypocritical.

WTH: In your opinion, what do you think the Second Amendment is for?

JB: Looking at the founder’s times and what they had just gone through, it was something they put in there for us should we ever find ourselves in their shoes and have to reassert, because of whatever manifestation of tyranny, our inherent right to freedom and liberty.

WTH: Do you support concealed carry laws?

JB: I hold a CHL with the state of Texas. I would prefer there not be a bureaucratic apparatus whose hoops I have to jump through so that I may defend myself should the need ever arise outside of my home. Who are these legislators to tell me that I may not defend myself outside of my home because they don’t have my fingerprints on file?

WTH: Do you believe in any sort of gun restrictions?

JB: The only gun restriction I would favor is one in which only VIOLENT felons are prevented from purchasing or possessing a firearm. Other than that, why does the government or the police need them if I am not allowed to have one?

WTH: Some liberals say regular Americans shouldn’t be allowed to have guns because they aren’t trained. As a trained member of the military yourself, do you think average citizens have the ability to use guns correctly?

JB: Despite the training I received while in the Marines, I am a regular American. I am not exceptional. I am not superior. I am an American just like any other citizen. I’ve seen "average citizens" use guns extraordinarily efficiently when I go to the range. This is because they are responsible people who seek knowledge when they don’t know something. So yes they have the ability, and they should be able to purchase whatever weapons they deem sufficient for their needs.

WTH: Some people fear that government will use the military to forcibly disarm the public if gun banning laws get passed. What is your sense of your fellows in the armed forces. Do you think they’d follow orders to forcibly disarm the public?

JB: In my 8 years of service I could probably count on one hand the number of people that I met who would forcibly disarm the American public. The vast majority of American service members that I know and that I served with recognize that the Constitution is what we pledge to obey.

WTH: Do you feel that there will be any retaliation by the Marines for having posted your reply?

JB: I was honorably discharged on July 31st of this year. I’d certainly hope they wouldn’t "retaliate" in any way because I am doing my civic duty and keeping myself informed. I think that would go against our motto: "Honor Courage and Commitment"

WTH: Any other thoughts?

JB: I just hope that our elected representatives do not vote for this heinous attempt to make me and my fellow Americans defenseless against predators and criminals.

On Saturday Sept 8, 2012  I lost a friend and Buddy of thirteen years. He was a beautiful orange longhair cat.  He was my friend, buddy and   protector. The top photo he is waiting for the leaves to blow so he can kill them. In the bottom photo he is in his favorite place to take a nap, on top of the TV. May I present Dammit

When he was a kitten he would  jump up in my lap and make biscuits on my shoulder, it hurt a lot but I loved the dazed look on his face while he was pumping away getting’ those biscuits just right.

Then something happened, I went into the hospital for six months for heart surgery and chemo, every day when my wife came from the hospital when she opened the door he was standing there looking around her to see if I was home too.

From that day on when I got home he was now my protector. He would ignore me for a couple of hours, punishing me for leaving him, and then he would come over and head-butt my leg and I knew I was home for sure.

He loved going out in the back yard with me and I loved going out with him. Our back yard belonged to him. He would not allow any cat to jump the fence when we were out.

Fall was his favorite time of year. When the leaves started to fall the war  was on. If a leaf hit the ground he ignored it his job was to catch them in the air, that was a kill and meant that the leaf was dropped at my feet with a lot of “Good boy, great hunter” praise then he would go after another. The game would go on for hours, he never got tired or gave up.

He is the only cat I have ever known that would come when you whistled. He quickly learned the whistle for come and no matter where he was in the yard he would come flying across the yard when he heard it..

When I fell in the back yard and could not get up, I called my wife at work, he stood guard over me until she got home.

When our daughter moved back in with us she brought her two cats with her.. Slurpy and Dammit hit it off just great. They spent many hours playing.  Herby (The Grump) was a different case, they did not get along at all. They were both alpha cats and the battle for top cat went on all the time. Herby was twice as big as my little Dammit, but Dammit was a warrior to the nines.  Then it turned out that Slurpy was the real Alpha.

For my birthday my daughter had some of his photos framed, they hang in the living room so I can see them. His ashes rest in my room, the room we  shared for all those years

I miss him very much,, he impacted my life more than any pet  I have ever had. He was a warrior of the first order and sweet as a cat can be.

I could write about him for pages and pages. I may do that later but right now I can’t do that.

Rest in peace Dammit, I will join you soon.

It may be time to pull this out of the archives and do it again, because this one is sure messed up.

He sent this to friends in 2000, it is a message for all of us. His name was Doug Ervine, he lived in British Columbia, Canada. Please reflect on it.

honored because the Lord has provided shelter for my mind, body and soul. 


Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped. And here I am, the sculptor 
who gets to do the shaping. What today will be like is up to me. I get to choose 
what kind of day I will have!

In reflecting on Reagan and Romney’s role in the Republican Party, I drew inspiration from both men’s words. Never being one of those activists who leaned heavily on "what would Reagan do" to cheaply win an argument full of intellectual void, I couldn’t help but feel the very same conviction to rely on some of his words and formatting to argue for organized opposition to Romney’s nomination. We can do better in this primary. It’s time my fellow movement leaders take a public stand, lest they be responsible for very foreseeable ills that will pain our Party and the fight for real reform.

A Time for Choosing…

Those who would trade our principles for the bet of the compromising nominee have told us they can ensure victory without our nominee publicly endorsing reform policies. They call their policy “winning.” And they say if we’ll only avoid any direct harm to the nominee in waiting, he’ll come to our side, be convinced that the country truly is at a crossroads, along with our Party’s brand and learn to love us. All who oppose the nominee in waiting are given no refuge, no access, labeled as ideologues. They say we offer purist rhetoric to a complex election. Well, perhaps there is a purist answer—not an easy answer—but pure one: If you, here and now, have the courage to take a stand, say “Not Mitt Romney​”… that we want a nominee who will fundamentally reform the financial burden our country is crippled with and have a core, we will win.

I haven’t said much about the elections.  So far I keep hoping that Rick Perry or Herman Cain will come out the winner in these primaries. I truly believe it would be the worst thing for the United States  If Mitt Romney wins the nomination. I don’t think he could beat Obama. If he did win the election, he would be Obama light. In the last election.  I voted for John McCain.  Not because I liked him.  I never trusted him.  Not for anything, it was because Sarah Palin was on the ballot. It Romney were to win the election, Obamacare would be permanent if not even worse.  As a nation we cannot afford that to happen.

Mitt Romney is a flip flopper, he changes direction, depending on what direction the wind is blowing. I don’t believe that he is being honest in his campaign. He is an anti-gunner, pro-abortion to me he is an un- trustable politician. What politician is trust worthy? I would vote for Rick Perry, Herman Cain, space, Newt Gingrich or Ron Paul. We need anybody but Obama or Mitt Romney. We cannot afford either one of them.  They will destroy this country even more so than it has been.
If Romney gets the nomination, I and a lot of other conservatives would be very tempted to just leave that check box empty. That would mean that we would have Obama for another four years.  That would not be a good thing, but who to vote for the devil or the devil’s partner.
